In the Discussion Board in Week 6 we will analyze healthcare as a right or privilege.
In order to prepare for this week’s discussion, please review Chapter 7, Ethical Considerations. On page 129 of the textbook, we learn that in many countries of the world healthcare is a privilege and offered to only the wealthy and those of high socioeconomic status. Medications and treatments come with a high cost for those underserved countries globally.
After you watch the video below answer the following questions:
- Is healthcare a right or privilege in the United States? What about other countries?
- Should healthcare be considered a right? Should everyone have the same access to care despite socioeconomic status or the ability to pay for services? Explain your reasoning.
