Description
Background: When/how did the concept of race develop?
How was it used to control global power (trade, colonialism)?
How did concepts of race change during the Enlightenment?
Discuss an example of race in a specific country. Include examples of specific people. Make sure to incorporate a primary source in this part of the paper.
Reflection (1-2 paragraphs): Try to draw a parallel to your own life.
How does this history impact you in today’s word?
This can be done in the conclusion. You can use information from BBC world news

Write 5 full paragraphs (min 4-5 sentences per paragraph) – intro, 3 body and conclusion. Size 12 font, Times New Roman, double spaced.
***You MUST use specific facts from the lectures, TEXTBOOK, and one primary source quote from the Sources of World Society primary source book. Primary sources are the words of someone who experienced the event, do not quote the editor of the small book as a primary source!! Essays without use of the textbook and primary sources will receive a ZERO***

Anna Marie Falconbridge recalls her time spent on a slave ship as a free passenger. In this she begins to build a case from her experiences versus what she had heard. She claims the slaves were treated humanely, justifying slavery is an improvement from their lives in Africa when she writes, “by saving millions from perdition, whose future existence is rendered comfortable, by the cherishing hands of Christian masters” (Falconbridge, 274).
