Homicide Investigations on the CRJ320
Your boss has requested you to put together a homicide investigation course for your coworkers. There will be two parts to this course.
Part 1: Homicide Classification
Create a table to use as a task help comparing the various sorts of homicides on one page. This is what your table should look like:
Homicides are divided into four categories.
DefinitionExample
scumbag (Felonious) assassination (First, Second, or Third Degree) Manslaughter is a serious crime (Voluntary or Involuntary) Nonviolent (Non-Felonious) Homicide that can be excused Homicide that is justifiable
Part 2: Case Study
You will investigate a closed homicide case in your town, or as near to your community as possible, in the second half of your course. In the Assignment Preparation exercise last week, you should have chosen a case from Nexis Uni. If you haven’t finished that activity yet, go back and finish it before moving on to this one.
Summarize the investigation of your chosen case in 34 pages. Your analysis should include the following:
Describe the events that led up to the case.
List the important elements that may have been utilized to categorize the type of death and the discovery.
Examine how many environmental elements may have influenced this investigation’s medical examination and autopsy.
Identify the forensic methodologies used in the investigation, as well as the results.
DNA, toxicological, hair and fiber evidence, fingerprints, and any other methods that contributed to the inquiry may be included.
Based on your understanding of the case, suggest one way the detectives or forensic team may have reinforced it.
Please cite three sources.
The case record you found on Nexis Uni will be one of your references.
Other sources of information could include relevant news stories, as well as other court cases or guidelines cited in the case.
Formatting, clarity, and writing mechanics are all required.
Strayer Writing Standards are required for this course. Please see the Strayer Writing Standards link in the left-hand menu of your course for help and information. Any additional instructions should be sought from your lecturer.
The following is the specific course learning result linked to this assignment:
Determine how a preliminary death inquiry should be conducted.
