Healthcare is a big financial worry for the public because it is one of the largest sectors of the US economy and one of the single largest line items in federal and state budgets. As government agencies, private sector, political
organizations, think tanks, coalitions, and individuals battle with health policy challenges, the survival of many of the country’s most popular social programs, such as Medicare and Medicaid, as well as the health of millions, hangs
in the balance. Each of these policy stakeholders brings their own agenda and interests to the table, therefore it’s critical to understand their roles and influences on healthcare policy.
