Human Genetics Karyotypes Biology Lab Report
You will need a printer, scissors, and a camera (your phone camera is fine.) For this lab, you will follow the directions on the lab document below with a few modifications.
You will take a picture of each chromosomal arrangement you do. Each photo must have your name and the date in the photo. You can just write and the top on the paper since you will be using the same sheet over and over to arrange your chromosomes.
Instead of answering your questions on the back of the sheet or in the lab as it suggests you will put them on the separate answer sheets provided. You will do all the scatter sheets. The last page of the answer sheet is a table where you can put in the information.
Type of Protein from Jellyfish Flowchart
I’m working on a biology question and need support to help me understand better.
ou are a newresearch scientist working for Fluorotek a start-up biotechnology companylocatedin El Cajon, CA (900 Rancho Echinoderm Parkway, El Cajon, CA 92019).Having just completed your Ph.D. in biochemistry from UCSD, you are now an expert in expression and purification of novel proteins. About 6 months ago, a Fluorotek research team discovered a new species of starfish in the south Pacific. This starfish produces a green fluorescent protein (GFP) that is concentrated in the skin.
Since this GFP is from a species classified in a different Phylum than the original GFP isolated by Tsien, there is hope that this protein may have properties that will give it advantages over the original GFP(see the Bio Techniques article The Quest for New Fluorescent Proteins). Since the starfish was found,Fluorotekscientists have isolated the gene for production of the protein and have inserted itinto a plasmid vector(pGLO)that shouldallow production of significant amounts of the protein for characterization.
The company would like to file a patent on this molecule as soon as possible, and your work will be integral to that process. This protein has potential to be usedas a genetically encoded fluorescent label, similar to the proteins that have been isolated from jellyfish and corals. Time is of the essence, as a number of companies are working on similar projects, and without patent protection, the product will be of little value.

The background and significance of the problem and a clear statement of the research purpose is provided. The search history is mentioned.
Methodology
58-53 points
Content is well-organized with headings for each slide and bulleted lists to group related material as needed. Use of font, color, graphics, effects, etc. to enhance readability and presentation content is excellent. Length requirements of 10 slides/pages or less is met.
Average Score
50-85%
40-38 points
More depth/detail for the background and significance is needed, or the research detail is not clear. No search history information is provided.
83-76 points
Review of relevant theoretical literature is evident, but there is little integration of studies into concepts related to problem. Review is partially focused and organized. Supporting and opposing research are included. Summary of information presented is included. Conclusion may not contain a biblical integration.
52-49 points
Content is somewhat organized, but no structure is apparent. The use of font, color, graphics, effects, etc. is occasionally detracting to the presentation content. Length requirements may not be met.
Poor Quality
0-45%
37-1 points
The background and/or significance are missing. No search history information is provided.
75-1 points
Review of relevant theoretical literature is evident, but there is no integration of studies into concepts related to problem. Review is partially focused and organized. Supporting and opposing research are not included in the summary of information presented. Conclusion does not contain a biblical integration.
48-1 points
There is no clear or logical organizational structure. No logical sequence is apparent. The use of font, color, graphics, effects etc. is often detracting to the presentation content. Length requirements may not be met
