Description
Here is my thesis.
While Christianity largely opposes water privatization, Chile, a predominantly Christian country, is the only country to have fully privatized water. In recent years, this privatization has caused social unrest impacting those in low-income communities, reflecting the challenges to realizing clean water as a human right.
Research Paper
Each student will conduct research and write a paper on your chosen/assigned/approved topic relating to Ecology & Environmental Ethics (Religion & Ecology). Topics must be have been previously approved by the professor. Research must include consulting authoritative sources and papers may include the student’s personal reflections. Students MUST use at least 3 printed academic references (books, journal articles) other than the course textbook. A minimum of two (2) print books is required. Wikipedia is not acceptable as a source. Do NOT simply google for information – not all websites are academic websites. Be sure to cite all the sources for your information, even if you are paraphrasing. List your Bibliography on a separate sheet following your paper.
All Research Papers are to be 10 (TEN) to 12 (TWELVE) pages in length (not including a cover page or your bibliography and not including footnotes if you use them) Papers MUST be free of spelling and grammatical errors, and MUST be appropriately cited and footnoted and include an appropriately formatted bibliography. Students may use whatever citation style is acceptable in their own discipline. Spelling, grammar, citations, and bibliography will all be factored into the grade for the research paper. Papers are to be typed, double spaced, Times New Roman 12pt font, with one inch margins.
You will submit your research paper (both print copy and through Blackboard) on or before the day of your presentation or as assigned by the professor.
All papers will also be submitted electronically on or before the date assigned through Blackboard as a WORD document only(.doc or .docx). Any other format will NOT be graded and result in a zero for the paper.
Your research paper will be graded ONLY when it has been submitted electronically through Blackboard. Blackboard is set with a SINGLE submission setting therefore you have only once chance to submit your paper – be careful when you upload that it IS the correct version of your paper. Do NOT email me any papers as they will not be accepted or read. I do NOT accept email attachments for ANY reason.
Your paper will be graded according to the following criteria:
– Have you addressed your topic correctly?
– Have you clearly defined your thesis statement?
– Have you answered in a complete, sophisticated manner?
– Have you drawn upon academic readings or other resources to write your paper?
– Is your paper well written in terms of style and grammar?
– Is your paper a coherent whole? I don’t want a collection of broken parts pasted together.
– Have you drawn from the recommended sources? Have you integrated insights from your research into the paper?
– Have you documented your use of sources correctly?
Review the quality of your own work before you hand it in. Your paper will be evaluated using the rubric posted to Blackboard
