Important Human Health and Performance Parameters
Description
Reliability and validity of the single-leg hop test for measuring anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) integrity
Objectives:
There are many tests and instruments for identifying abilities, characteristics, and other important human health parameters and performance parameters. In many cases, scientists are asked to investigate whether a test or instrument is appropriate for using a specific population through scientific process and evaluation. To be useful, the test or instrument should be shown to be both valid and reliable for the sample of people it is being used on. The purpose of the written paper and supporting presentation is for you and your group to select a test or instrument used in human health and performance and determine, using the available evidence, whether the test or instrument yields valid and reliable results for the population it is being studied on. This should lead you to conclude whether the test or instrument is appropriate or not for this group of people.List of details needed:
1) Describe the human health or performance characteristic that the test or instrument is measuring (e.g., provide basic knowledge, why someone would want or need to measure the characteristic). (10%)
2) Describe the test or instrument’s underlying theoretical basis that is being investigated to measure and evaluate the characteristic. (10%)
3) Explain *in detail* at least two comparable tests or instruments used to measure the characteristic in question. This could include how long it takes, the test items, who administers it, the scoring system, and which groups of people are suitable for. (20%)
4) Discuss the relevant *peer-reviewed* science that has studied the validity and reliability of the test/ instrument. What methodologies (study designs) were used to determine validity and reliability? What were the strengths and limitations of these? What were the statistical methods used? Were these appropriate? (25%)
5) Provide a critical analysis of the test or instrument. Is it a good test (reliability, validity)? What are the limitations associated with the test or instrument? How can the test or instrument be improved? Are there any studies you could do to provide additional information? What type of population is the test or instrument suitable for? (25%)
Note:
This is a writing assignment for kinesiology. It is supposed to have the presentation and speech portion as well. I am ONLY responsible for the first 2 questions, so please do NOT answer question 3-5. Those are just an overview of the whole assignment. You don’t need to make any slides and figures for question 1 and question 2.
Please keep the writing portion in 2.5 pages, and make a ‘speech version’ of it for the rest pages.
I have attached the slides of reliability and validity to give you some ideas for these questions.
I will add more tips if the quality is more than excellent.

Average Score
50-85%
40-38 points
More depth/detail for the background and significance is needed, or the research detail is not clear. No search history information is provided.
83-76 points
Review of relevant theoretical literature is evident, but there is little integration of studies into concepts related to problem. Review is partially focused and organized. Supporting and opposing research are included. Summary of information presented is included. Conclusion may not contain a biblical integration.
52-49 points
Content is somewhat organized, but no structure is apparent. The use of font, color, graphics, effects, etc. is occasionally detracting to the presentation content. Length requirements may not be met.
Poor Quality
0-45%
37-1 points
The background and/or significance are missing. No search history information is provided.
75-1 points
Review of relevant theoretical literature is evident, but there is no integration of studies into concepts related to problem. Review is partially focused and organized. Supporting and opposing research are not included in the summary of information presented. Conclusion does not contain a biblical integration.
48-1 points
There is no clear or logical organizational structure. No logical sequence is apparent. The use of font, color, graphics, effects etc. is often detracting to the presentation content. Length requirements may not be met
