1) The student will define the most significant challenge facing a specific geographical area of the developing world based on class discussion and readings. It is possible to select a specific country. Justification for why the chosen challenge is the most important will be included in the paper (other challenges have to be identified and evaluated). Possible responses to the challenge, as well as the effects of those responses on the countries in the region, must be identified, as well as a recommendation for a practical course of action. The student must demonstrate knowledge of the relationship between capital investments, labor, outputs, depreciation, savings, technology, and other resources while writing the paper.
