Leadership And Organizational Behavior Discussion
The process of discovering and selecting various courses of action is known as decision-making. While we all aim to make sensible decisions, we don’t always succeedwe sometimes make irrational choices.
In rational decision-making, there are four steps:
Recognize the issue or opportunity and define it. Customer complaints, supplier breakdowns, staff turnover, sales loss, and so on are all examples of company problems. Organizations look for ways to achieve their objectives, exceed industry expectations, and extend and grow their business.
Alternative routes of action should be identified and analyzed. Leaders should gather information from a variety of sources in order to evaluate and assess the problem/opportunity and come up with as many solutions as feasible.
Select a desired path of action. The group would like to respond to the following questions:
Is the behavior moral?
Is it even possible? (Costs, availability of technology.)
Is it efficient? If you answered “good enough” to this question, you should reconsider your solution because it will cause more harm than good.
Put your selected strategy into action. To carry out the action successfully, you’ll require the participation of all teams.
Non-rational decisions, on the other hand, are usually the product of satisficing (going with the first available alternative without doing any investigation) or intuition (using your “gut” or just your own feelings to make decisions).
Consider a time when you made an irrational decision at work or in your personal life for this week’s topic.
