Please read this article and answer the following questions in 300-350 words
https://www.techrepublic.com/article/10-ethical-issues-confronting-it-managers/
Questions:
1. What you agree with and what don’t?
2. What do you do if you are the IT manager?
Example reply:
What you agree with, and what do you not?
I agree with the massive amounts of data providing tremendous advantages for both government and corporate entities, and those data can be centrally stored and retrieved effortlessly. But those data can be manipulated by someone who
illegally obtained individual privacy information or results in financial gain. I agree the employee should respect the business security of their formal employer, which should be enforced by contract. I agree there should be a precise intellectual
property regulation within the organization, in which the contributions for each one should be clearly defined.
I agree it is appropriate to notify employees that when they use organizational assets, the scope of employer surveillance should be legally defined. I also agree the pre-screening process for the background check is important during the hiring
process. I agree data quality control is necessary for the organization to do any credit checks in the future. I also agree the technology has two sides, which give us both advantages and disadvantages.
What do you do if you are the IT manager?
If I were an IT manager, I would establish an IT security team that creates solid internal data regulations, providing governance and surveillance of the appropriate use of those data. For that sensitive private information, it should be
appropriately maintained and accessed by authorized individuals.
Operational policies can address the proper handling of data. I will create a detailed intellectual properties protection code in the organization to clearly define the property right of each individual. If I were an IT manager, I will definitely conduct
the background check for all employees, which should help me prevent some big problems that arise after the hiring process.
The IT manager should try his best to make sure the data quality is good and relevant. The potential errors should be anticipated, which could contain error since the downstream consequences of error become vast. I believe the employee
could be personally liable for the breach of data quality because it’s the necessary controlling process.
