MOD 13 A Photo Does Not Provide Explanations

Photographs can lie, even without photoshop, the reason is that a photo does not necessarily explain the context. Only an image is presented and without context, reasoning, and an explanation the photo can be interpreted in different ways depending on who views it, and that person’s outlook on the world. Half-truths refer to this lack of context from photos. Yes, people do say a photo is worth a thousand words, but it is up to the viewer to write those words and they are more likely to be a false narrative rather than an honest depiction of the truth.
Honestly, yes, I do. I saw the photo before reading the explanation within the discussion. My first thought when seeing this photo was “how could someone be so cruel to another human”, but then upon reading the situation, I can totally understand why this person was being killed. Context is needed for people to form honest opinions and accurate thoughts, and this image does not do that. It simply shows a man about to be executed. Perhaps if this man was holding a weapon in front of the people he had just slaughtered, people would view the photograph differently but even then, it would be up to the individual viewing the photo to draw conclusions.

Subject: Ohio: When a worker shortage closed her favorite restraints dining room, a retiree grabbed an apron to help
Source: CNN https://www.cnn.com/2021/11/28/us/labor-shortage-r…
Synopsis: 81-year-old Bonnie lived in her hometown in Ohio all her life. Every Sunday after church Bonnie and her friends would head over to Culver’s for a burger and ice cream and sit together in the dining room. She was devastated when Culver’s closed the dining room due to being short staff. Bonnie told CNN she does not enjoy eating in her car so she decided to take actions in her own hands and started working at Culver’s. Her goal was to get the dining room back opened. She even worked five days a week. “Bonnie said she hopes her story can inspire other hidden helpers to give back to the things they love. “Jump in the water. It can be fun,” she said.”
Opinion: I think it is wonderful when hear stories about others helping their economy. And I think it is very inspiring to know that even at the age of 81, Bonnie stepped up to help.

4.The Revolutions of 1989 convey that they did not want the communist to overpower and take over the world. Even the U.S. stood up and helped put an end to it and set free Europe.

In his speech, Ronald Reagan expresses that he wants to aid in making the steps toward world peace. It can be inferred that when he stated, “as long as the [Brandenburg] gate is closed, as long as this scar of a wall is permitted to stand, it is not the German question alone that remains open, but the question of freedom for all mankind” he was speaking out against the wall and the division it represented. What it symbolized and did to individuals prevented the possibility of advancement toward world peace.
Throughout the late 1980s and 1990s, people living in communist nations wanted to overthrow communist rule because they felt unfairly treated in the way the government ruled over them. The majority of people within these nations wanted to see change within their home country to live with more rights than they currently had.
The U.S. had a role in the fall of communist regimes during the Revolutions of 1989 because Ronald Reagan spoke out against the wall and urged Mikhail Gorbachev, the General Secretary of the Communist Party and leader of the Soviet Union, to open and tear down the Berlin Wall. The Berlin Wall separated the capital city of Germany. When Ronald Reagan made his speech at the Brandenburg Gate, he stated that the U.S. seeks peace despite the defenses they must have against threats.
The Revolutions of 1989 conveys that the people of a country are a powerful force when considering matters of the philosophy and viability of different types of government, in this case referring to communist governments versus veritable democratic republics. A government arguably works best when it has the support of the people residing within the country.

Oxford High School shooting: 3 killed, shooter in custody, officials say
Around 1:00 on Tuesday, November 30th, a shooter walked into Oxford high school and shot three students dead and injured 6 more.
Whenever I hear about a school shooting my heart sinks. It sickens me that this is still going on. I am not quite sure why people feel the need to harm others, especially when they just want attention. It is so sad to think of how a child wakes up and does not realize what is about to happen this day. The families never know that this day will change their lives forever and it makes me sick. Hopefully one day the world can all be good but sadly, that will more than likely never happen.
