Good Morning
Currently I work in the 14 FTW Safety Office as the Flight safety manager. I have also had an interest in crossing the bridge to the occupational side of our program.
This class has helped me in my efforts tremdously due to the fact that I have never had to work or inspect a construction site. I have learned a lot and in comparison found out their is not a lot of difference in the two programs. Both require a site specific safety plan. Both require and emergency action plan. The areas may be a little different but the concepts are the same.
As far as incentive programs we have several in place here at Columbus. We ofter monthly, quarterly and annual awards for safety. Supervisors will put in their employees for these awards and we here in safety will look at each package and choose a winner.
Then the commanders will present these awards at their commanders call in front of their peers and explain why they are receiving the award. We also have and outstanding safety achievement award that can be given out at any time. This is a safety coin that is given to an individual on the spot by our chief of safety to recognize individual employees for out standing safety during the duty day as we make our rounds and doi our spot inspections. This has been an outstanding class. Thank you
