Describe effective leadership models and principles. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is a textbook. Stephen R. Covey’s “Powerful Lessons in Personal Change”
Instructions
It’s time to roll up our sleeves and get our hands dirty with Covey. He has a lot to say about the fundamental principles of leadership, starting with self-awareness. He starts with the three chapters below: Be proactive; start with the end in mind; prioritize your tasks. All of these are included in what he refers to as Private Victory.
Covey lays the foundation for effective leadership in these three chapters. He’s starting with his own personal vision, leadership, and management. Keep in mind that no matter how successful you are in public, it all begins in private. You fail if you succeed publicly but fail privately. Jesus is concerned with character-based fruit. The Christian society is in desperate need of people whose private selves come first, followed by their public selves.
In your Covey textbook, read pages 1-182.
You might want to think about the following:
What aspects of his argument do you agree with, and why?
Which of his points do you think he’s wrong on, and why?
What was the most important thing you learned from the first half of the book?
