Religion, race, and gender During the 1910s and 1920s,
1521
You’ll need a thesis statement and historical proof to back it up. You can’t simply state, “In the 1910s, there was violence against African Americans.” To prove this, you’ll need evidence. Take, for example,
the Tulsa Riot and provide some background information. Don’t merely give a list of names and dates. You must describe who or what they were, as well as how they are linked.
To cover it, at least 2-3 double-spaced pages are required (1000 words).
Discuss the relationships between race, gender, and religion during the 1910s and the 1920s. (Refer to the textbook)
Topics to be covered, connections to be made, and analyses to be conducted:
What is the relationship between WWI and the aftermath?
In the 1910s and 1920s, religious fundamentalism was on the rise (Revivals, Scopes Trail etc)
During the 1920s, there were significant social changes.
Who does the New KKK oppose? What effect did they have on politics? Please provide examples. Tulsa Riot-style violence
Anti-immigrant attitudes (anti-Asian, Sacco and Vanzetti trial don’t forget about anti-communism here, immigration Act of 1924, and so on)
Why do women want to vote? Who were some of the participants, and how did they gain votes?
What is the relationship between religion, the New KKK, anti-immigrant views, religion, and women wanting to vote?
