Richard Hakluyt Advice to Queen Elizabeth
For this exercise, you will put yourself in the place of Queen Elizabeth I, ruler of roughly 5.5 million people in England, Wales, and Ireland. Richard Hakluyt, one of your many advisors, is promoting a plan for the colonization of North America (excerpt of Hakluyt’s advice below). Do you follow his advice?
Read the document below closely, think about Hakluyt’s arguments for embarking on this plan, weigh his arguments carefully, and answer the following question:
