Research topic on special education
The single-subject research design is among the most used designs while investigating the fields of special education as well as counseling. The design is especially useful when the investigator wishes to alter the mannerisms of a person or even of a group of people after which they would document the changes. In this design, the participants will be the treatment and control group. This makes the main difference between the single-subject research design and the real experiments whereby the investigator assigns the involved population randomly to a treatment and control group. The research topic I choose for this particular research is the effectiveness of using visual representations to enhance the earning skills of students with intellectual disabilities (O’Neill.et.al, 2011).
During the research, the researcher will utilize line charts to display the impact of the interventions on the control group, in this case, the special students. The line charts are mostly preferred especially because they will display the changes that are noted over time upon the implementation of these learning methods. Hence, this will make tracking of the data much easier as the researcher studies the shapes of the graph to identify if the students are changing in a more effective or a worse manner.
