Outstanding Achievements Creating a Starting Organization In a very focused and enticing manner, a strong topic phrase addresses the assignment prompt. Reasons, details, and facts all link to the prompt in powerful and effective ways. The piece’s flow is enhanced by a variety of subtle transitions. With inventiveness, a strong conclusion revisits the core concept. A detailed strategy containing a lot of useful information (when required) The prompt is clearly the emphasis of the topic sentence. Reasons, details, and facts are all linked to the prompt. Transitions are effective; the ending is interesting and summarizes the major point. A well-thought-out strategy (when required) Attempts to construct a topic sentence The majority of the reasons, details, and facts are related to the prompt. Transitions that are ineffective Conclusion is weak and repetitious. Plan is hazy and imprecise (when required) Topic sentence is missing or ambiguous. Reasons, details, and facts have nothing to do with the prompt. There are no transitions. No or erroneous conclusion There is a lack of/no plan (when required) Content The prompt is the center of high-quality information, which is presented in an interesting manner. Examples, evidence, and explanations that are intriguing and/or persuasive help to bring the issue to life. The prompt/task has been fully developed. All information is correct and relevant to the task/topic. Topic is supported by examples/explanations. Consistent prompt/task development Information is sometimes repeated and/or wanders away from the prompt/task; inaccuracies may exist. The examples/explanations are lacking in detail and are incomplete. Information is erroneous, inadequate, or omitted because the prompt/task/topic is inconsistently or inadequately created. Unclear or lacking examples/explanations The prompt/task may or may not be addressed. Style a large and accurate vocabulary The use of an engaging tone is acceptable for the target audience. When read silently or loudly, varied sentence structure enhances the understanding and flow of the work. Clear, accurate vocabulary The tone is appropriate for the target audience. When read quietly and/or aloud, complete sentences with some diversity allow the text to flow competently. Vocabulary that is too basic or incorrect Inappropriate or immature tone When read quietly and/or loudly, awkward, basic, or incomplete phrases with little variety detract from the flow of the work. Vocabulary that is incorrect The audience is misled by the tone. When read quietly and/or loudly, awkward, short, choppy phrases, run-ons, and/or fragments make full interpretation of the work practically impossible. Conventions for Writing Correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation are essential (0 errors). Use APA formatting correctly throughout the work, including the title and reference page. Uses conventions to achieve a stylistic effectand it works! Grammar, spelling, and punctuation problems are uncommon (2 errors per page avg). APA formatting is used throughout the report, but there are a few small problems in the layout. Grammar, spelling, and punctuation mistakes are all too common (3 errors per page avg). Throughout the work, there is a rudimentary understanding of APA formatting, but it does not meet all of the APA requirements. Errors in grammar, spelling, and punctuation detract greatly from the meaning of a paper (4+ errors per page on average). Fails to demonstrate a fundamental understanding of APA style.
