Social Media and Consumer Behavior in Pandemic Discussion
We start this week with a discussion about social media and how it affects consumer behavior in the Pandemic, as we are all painfully aware, the most important rule of survival in the Pandemic is “Social Distancing”. As we are forced to quarantine at home, work from home, and teach our children from home, anxiety is increasing as we continue to isolate ourselves from friends and family. Social media has become more important than ever, and marketers need to know how to use social media to reach consumers in an effective way. Understanding how to leverage social media in a marketing campaign can mean the difference between success and failure in this economy.

One important need that consumers fill with social media is the desire to be entertained. How can companies make sure that their messages are delivered clearly and are entertaining at the same time? Name some ads that you have seen in the past that you find entertaining. Include a URL in your post if you can so others can see the advertisement as well. Are you reacting differently to ads, promotions/PR events than before the pandemic?
Influencer shopping apps have grown by 43% over the last year. Do you think that this growth will continue in the future? What influencers/products do you follow on social media. Have you had a positive experience with this?
How much more are you on social media than before the pandemic? Has social media improved your life during the pandemic, or has it made it difficult to maintain interpersonal relationships?
