Description
For this third and final assignment, I am asking you to write a brief essay on the ethics of food. Do you believe that it is morally permissible to use animals for food? Defend your position with reasons.
As with the second writing assignment, the purpose of this assignment is to see that you know how to defend a position with reasons. It is essential, then, that you present a clearly constructed argument for your position. In doing this, you can draw on information presented in your book or by James Wildman in his lecture The Food Matrix.
To receive full credit for this assignment, please follow the instructions below.
1. Your essay should be no less than 200 words and no more than 300 words. This is a short essay, so be concise and to the point.
2. Directly address the essay question, as explained above. Make sure you state an argument. Remember, an argument has premises and a conclusion.
3. Demonstrate that you can write at a college level. (You should write in standard English, using correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and paragraph construction.)
4. Include your name and the sequence number of the course. (This will be 6095, 6100, or 6150. Look at the top of the Blackboard menu for PHI 2604.)
5. Submit your essay no later than 11:59 PM, Tuesday, December 8.
6. To submit your essay, click on Essays in the Blackboard menu. Then click on Essay 3 and upload your essay into the system.
If you follow these instructions, you will receive 10 points for your essay. Otherwise, points may be subtracted.v
