Introduction
One of the most important qualities of a graduate student is maintaining a high standard of professionalism in a graduate program. Said standard can only be achieved through maintaining integrity and a sound ethics code, as it is said that
integrity is the foundation on which academic and professional success is built. Academic dishonesty is very prevalent in schools around the world; however, one should strive to conquer all these obstacles and traps by desisting from cheating or stealing other peoples work. Without proper strategies, these obstacles can be daunting to face. This paper will explore the various strategies that one can use to uphold integrity both as a student and in the workplace.
Section 1: Strategies to Promote Academic Integrity and Professional Ethics
Explanation between Academic Integrity and Writing
Non-traditional students are benefiting from online learning platforms because they can achieve both their academic and professional goals. Online learning has become an essential part of many students because they can continue their
academic work while still engaging in other non-academic activities (Bretag, 2017). They can tackle many obstacles which tend to threaten their productivity. All educational and other institutions attribute academic integrity to honesty. Honesty is considered to be the key to academic integrity. It is vital to note that Academic integrity is used to evaluate the values responsible for guiding most educational institutions. Plagiarism is the main point of focus for academic
integrity. Students are expected to avoid passing other people’s work as their own. This means that they are required to use sources to accrediting the owners of the idea. Writing and Academic Integrity has become a significant focus for
many. Students, with the help of the internet, can plagiarize other people’s work without proper citations. Online learning schools should ensure they teach their students’ various ways they can avoid plagiarism.
Relationship between Professional Practices and Scholarly Ethics
According to the American Nurses Association, ethics is described as moral principles responsible for dictating how a person should act. On the other hand, mortality is defined as human beings’ beliefs, character, and culture, influencing their behaviors. Scholarly reading and writings vary depending on the author’s views and opinions. Most professions require one to meet a specific set of skills (Grace,2018). In every domain, including nursing, there is a code of conduct that has to be followed by everyone in that profession. Nursing is among the topmost crucial disciplines because nurses are expected to provide care for other people. In their places of practice, nurses are expected to use evidence-based research before
and after they offer their services. They are expected to use scholarly references and not sources such as Google. This is because using sources such as Google can be harmful to the patient.
How Grammarly, Safe Assign, and Paraphrasing Contributes to Academic Integrity
Grammarly and Safe Assign are crucial for students because they allow them to make grammatical corrections to their work before submitting it. These two tools help the student submit work that is free from grammatical errors, and it also
helps the students improve their writing skills. Grammarly is also essential for checking if the originality of the student’s work. They can submit work that is free from plagiarism which contributes to their final grade. Paraphrasing tools are responsible for ensuring that the student’s work does not resemble any other work by other authors (Price, 2014). They help reduce cases of plagiarism which can lead to discontinuation of the student. It is also considered a faster way of
finishing extensive articles in a short time.
