Instructions:
The instructions are as follows:
Students will write an 8-10 page final paper (double spaced) on an environmental issue from a sociological perspective. Although this article will necessitate investigation, it is an analytical paper. This implies that it will include:
I a description of the problem (most likely from the standpoint of natural science); and
(ii) a sociological analysis based on one or more of the theories/concepts we discussed throughout the semester in class.
“How does retail pollution damage the environment?” is the topic/question I chose. The majority of your materials/citations should come from a journal article rather than random websites (the journal can be online, though). I choose the following notions to connect this issue to:
“From industrial society to the risk society: Questions of survival, social organization, and ecological enlightenment,” by Ulrich Beck.
In the Bensuade and Newman composition, the subject of “nature vs. civilization” is explored.
*Incorporating these sociological theories into how they affect the environmental problem is critical to the paper’s success. It is critical to use these articles.
