Instructions:
You will conduct research and create an annotated bibliography for this assignment in order to gain a sociological understanding of research topics related to a local example of environmental racism and environmental justice.
Tasks:
The annotated bibliography is an important part of academic study. The annotated bibliography is a list of all of the sources you’ve discovered thus far. The list is in alphabetical order, just like on your Reference page, and each source has a full citation, just like on your Reference page. An annotated bibliography, on the other hand, adds an annotation for each source, which is essentially a description of the source with some commentary on why it is useful to your project.
The following are some things to think about as you’re putting together your annotated bibliography.
Explain your opinions concerning the reasons for environmental racism in the United States using your sociological imagination, course texts, and outside resources. What makes some people more vulnerable than others? What are the ramifications of racism towards the environment? What methods are available to communities in the United States to reduce environmental racism? What about specific local communities?
Go over the five research questions you created in the previous homework again.
Then look for content from scholarly sources that are relevant to your study questions. Per the research question, you must discover at least one or two scholarly sources.
You must (1) make meaningful connections with local examples of environmental racism in the previous assignment; (2) attempt to answer some of the questions asked above (causes, consequences, and strategies of environmental racism); and (3) ensure that there is a direct connection to research questions as you conduct your search for scholarly sources.
Annotated bibliographies must be provided after a scholarly source has been discovered.
Assignment:
This week’s assignment is to create an annotated bibliography that fits the following criteria.
At least five sources should be used.
Include a concise overview of each source of information. So that the reader may acquire a sense of the piece, explain what the resource is about. Here, you’ll want to clearly state the main argument or thesis, as well as explain some of the text’s key issues and supporting arguments.
Include a description of why the source is useful and what type of proof it contributes to your project. Does it provide a unique point of view or type of evidence? Explain why you’ve chosen to include it. Make a link to the research question in question.
The length of each annotation should be between 100 and 150 words.
Include a thorough Reference page for each source, formatted in APA style.
