Students are required to produce a reflection journal for each training area. There are eight submissions overall, with the due dates for each reflection paper listed in the table above.
The purpose of the reflection notebook is to allow you to reflect on your training experiences. Each 3-page reflection notebook should incorporate professional reflection (2 pages) and personal reflection (3 pages) (1-page long). For professional reflection, you must provide a brief explanation of your values, skills, knowledge, and views gained from the pieces of training, as well as write about your experience, thoughts, and feelings linked to any of the following topics:
Code of ethics of the National Association of Social Workers, as well as ethical situation(s) and decision-making stages you took
Diversity and cultural competency, including a transcultural approach from the School of Social Work
Social workers and social service agencies have many tasks and duties.
Using interview skills to engage with clients
Other work-related difficulties (e.g., self-care, addressing self-disclosure and other boundary issues, working under a supervisor, confidentiality, etc.)
You can discuss how the training experiences have influenced your attitudes toward specific demographics and/or self-awareness of personal knowledge limitations and biases in your personal reflection.
Additional information from the journals based on class discussions: The training is not summarized in the reflection notebook. We use ourselves as a tool in our job as social workers. To be productive and do no harm in the art of social work, we must first know and comprehend ourselves (thoughts, attitudes, experiences, limitations, biases). A reflective notebook is one tool that might assist social workers in improving their effectiveness in their profession.
