Overall, I have loved this class so far. I have learned many new and different things such as the different types of shape of artwork and how there is many different types of art. Also, I knew that some artworks and painting and things like that had deeper meanings to it but I seen many examples of paintings and artwork that people make to try and make a change in the world. I learned that art can be portrayed in many different ways that I never really though about as well. I love when I learn new things and when I find something interesting like many of the things I have looked at in this class, I get more into it and more involved that even on my free time I look at some unique paintings and see how they have deep meanings and how some show the background of somebody’s life. The most important concept I’ve learned is color because with many paintings, the color can mean something and I never knew that. Overall, I’ve had a great time in this class so far!

I have enjoyed learning about the different types of art. To be more specific, the different materials used and the reasoning that certain materials are used. Learning about his negative space and variation of transitioning colors to reflect more important areas was pretty interesting. It is not something that I would have noticed before. The way an artist draws our eyes to a particular area and angles their subject (person or object) to make it seem larger, or create a hierarchy in scenes, or a figures presence to be more of a center focus. I think being able to pay more attention to details and backgrounds of areas (my ADHD really likes to make me miss those) has been the most useful tool. To be able to recognize how the artist constructed their whole piece in a way that works together and for a reason is fascinating.
I applied these tools when I went to see the exhibit Beyond Van Gogh, which I also highly recommend you go to, and was able to pay more attention to brush strokes and background details, the size of objects, and the colors used.
While I have picked up on all of these additional areas of art pieces, I think I just need to try and remeber all the aspects. I have a hard time focusing on technique vs my feeling generated by art.
this is what I liked in the course
