Health Promotion Program
Assume that you are working in a community health department. The department has some federal money that it wants to allocate to two health promotion programs from the following:
Decrease in deaths from cardiovascular disease
Decrease in deaths from breast cancer
Decrease in teenage pregnancy
Decrease in cigarette smoking
Decrease in incidence of diabetes
Decrease in motor vehicle accidents
Decrease in osteoporosis and hip fractures among women
Decrease in obesity
Identify the health promotion programs that you would want to investigate and get them approved by your instructor.
Write a 3- to 4-page report in a Microsoft Word document, addressing the following questions:
Identify the risk factors associated with the selected health promotion programs.
What is the target population associated with the selected health promotion program? Consider the hypothetical target population, consisting of middle-aged women, male adolescent gang members, premature infants, etc., and describe the characteristics of each program.
What are the risk factors that you want to focus on in order to achieve the objective of the health promotion program?
What intervention would you recommend to be most appropriate to reduce exposure to these risk factors? You can choose at what level of intervention you want to implement each program (primary, secondary, tertiary health intervention).
What will be the process by which this intervention will achieve the goal of the program?
What will be the anticipated outcome of this intervention?
Support your responses with examples.
Cite any sources in APA format.
Welcome to your first graded discussion question. I will make the first question very easy. In CengageNow there are study tools available to help you learn. Every chapter has an eBook, eLectures, and Animated Example Exercises. In my opinion these three are mandatory and you must read the chapter (eBook), watch and listen to the chapter lectures (eLectures), and view the explanations on how to do your homework (Animated Example Exercises). The other tools in chapter 1 include Flashcards, Glossary, Crossword Puzzle, Accounting Games, Beat the Clock, Quiz Bowl, MindTap Video.
Please log into CengageNow and take a look at the study tools. Once you have a good understanding of the tools answer the following questions:
Give us your review of the eBook, eLectures, and Animated Example Exercises. Tell us the pros and cons of these items.
From the remaining tools (Flashcards, Glossary, Crossword Puzzle, Accounting Games, Beat the Clock, Quiz Bowl, MindTap Video) pick the ones that you think will help you the most in this class and give a description of the tool(s) and tell us why you think it will be helpful
In this chapter we were provided a chart of accounts with sixteen accounts in exhibit 2 in the text. From that chart of accounts select an account (try to pick one that has not been discussed yet), in the subject box put the account title you selected, then do the following:
1. Assets, Liabilities, Owner’s Equity, Revenues, and Expenses are the five categories (account types) that an account can be classified as. Which category is the account you selected included in?
2. The double-entry accounting system has specific rules for recording debits and credits based on the type of account. Describe how these rules apply to the account you selected.
3. The normal balance of an account can be either a debit or a credit depending on whether increases in the account are recorded as debits or credits. What is the normal balance of the account you selected?
4. Think of a transaction that your account would be used in. Describe and illustrate journalizing the transaction.
Review the entire list of talks on the “Creative Spark” TED channel.
Select one talk that is of interest to you and watch it in its entire length.
Write a 700- to 1,050-word summary of the salient points made in the talk and its supporting details that catch your interest.
Indicate the name and position of the speaker and the location and year of the talk in your summary.
Conclude your summary with a reflection of the following:
How the talk’s content illuminates some of the stages of creativity
How the topic of the talk relates to the concepts of imagination and curiosity
How some of the points made in the talk might apply to your personal experience and benefit society as a whole
Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines.
We have learned about four types of adjustments: (1) prepaid expenses, (2) unearned revenues, (3) accrued revenues, and (4) accrued expenses. Select one specific adjusting entry that falls under one of the four types, enter it in the subject box, and post the following:
1. A description of the adjustment and why it is necessary.
2. Provide an example of the transaction; include the debit and credit, with dates and amounts.
In order to receive full credit for this discussion you must reply to another student’s post. In your reply discuss the status of the accounts affected prior to the adjustment (understated or overstated), and explain the impact of the adjustment on the financial statements.

Your company provides you with a car. You are told only to drive in Dade and Broward and only to use the car for business purposes. One weekend your family is going to the Keys. You get in your personal car and it won’t start so you take the company car to the Keys, which is in Monroe, for the weekend.
When you return to work on Monday your boss calls you in his office and asks you why you drove the car outside of Dade and Broward. You explain and then ask him how he knew. He tells you that each company car has a GPS track system. The insurance company gives us a discount if we only drive in a limited area and one of the requirements is that we track our cars. He also tells you the cost of the insurance and trip will be taken from your next paycheck and you are lucky to have a job.
The above is just one example of the types of surveillance that a company might use. They can track you with your cell phone and look at the phone numbers you called. They can install video cameras. They can monitor every key stroke on your computer.
Please discuss your thoughts about being monitored by your employer. Do you think it is right or wrong? After thinking about it would you do anything differently at work?
To get full credit your response to the above should be at least one paragraph long, you must read all of the posts, and post a detailed reply to at least one other student’s post.
Write 150 to 200 words on each of the following topics:
Describe a situation of public interest in which critical and/or creative thought could have been used for a better outcome. Describe why it is important to think critically and creatively in similar situations.
Define free will, truth, knowledge, and opinion. Explain how we use them to form thoughts. What role does each play in critically assessing situations?
Identify three hindrances to the critical thinking process. Determine methods for overcoming these hindrances. Identify a time in which you experienced a hindrance in critical thinking. Describe a method you could use to overcome the hindrances.
Identify a message in advertising. Describe how you perceive the message of the advertisement. Try to determine the reality of the advertisement. Distinguish between your perception and the reality of the message.
After numerous campus interviews, Alex Sanchi, a student at BC, received two office interview invitations from the Orlando offices of two large firms. Both firms offered to cover her “out-of-pocket expenses” (travel, hotel, and meals). She scheduled the interviews for both firms on the same day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. At the conclusion of each interview, she submitted to both firms her total out-of-pocket expenses of $296 for mileage, hotel, meals, parking and tolls. She believes this approach is appropriate. If she had made two trips, her cost would have been two times $296. She is also certain that neither firm knew she had visited the other on that same trip. Within ten days Alex received two checks in the mail, each in the amount of $296.
Did Alex handle the situation properly? If not what should she have done?
To get full credit respond to the questions above and reply to a post from one of your classmates
Good conversation for the previous chapter’s question.
I have given this question to many classes and normally there are students who say Alex didn’t do anything wrong. I hope you all see what Alex did was wrong no matter how you look at it. There were some good attempts at making it seem a little less wrong but in the end it is what it is. Recruiters in big businesses talk. Partners in CPA firms talk. They all expect students to interview with more than one company. So you might think the chances are slim, and they probably are, but it could happen that they find out about the double billing.
There are many ways to be hurt. Based on the question from the previous chapter please tell us who was hurt by Alex’s actions. Try not to repeat what other students have already posted, be original. Also tell us how they were hurt. How would you feel if you were the person or one of the persons who were hurt?
For full credit please respond, read all the other responses, and post a response to another student’s post.
