Instructions:
1-How would you describe what inclusion is and why it is beneficial to children and families to the following people after reading Chapter 10:
Someone who aspires to be a teacher but is unsure if they are capable of teaching in an inclusive setting.
A family with a special needs child.
The family of a child who is having difficulty adjusting to changes in the classroom after a child with a special need was added to the class.
Did your explanations differ from those of one of your classmates? Why do you think that is?
2-After reading Chapter 9, do you have any experience or understanding of the policy on head lice that various early education and care programs and schools have? Are (or were) those policies “no nits” or in accordance with the aforementioned recommendations?
3-We may use a variety of activities in the classroom to demonstrate health care to children.
Consider the scenarios below. Is it necessary to exclude each child from care? If so, why should the child return, and when should he or she return? What should the teacher/caregiver do if this is not the case? Please answer each question completely.
Mario’s father drops him off for school and informs Ms. Michelle that he is feeling under the weather. He doesn’t have a fever, but he does have a little cough and a runny nose. He did, however, eat a nice breakfast and had a normal level of energy.
Li vomits about one hour into the day. Mr. Abraham checks her temperature and discovers she has a 101.3° fever. She appears to be a little pale and simply wants to lie down. She vomits again while he attempts to contact Li’s relatives.
Latanya finds a rash on Daniel’s stomach when she tries to change his diaper. She takes his temperature and discovers that he does not have a fever. He’s not scratching at it, and he doesn’t appear to be in any pain. He has a history of eczema and contact dermatitis, she recalls.
Apurva awakens from her slumber with a discharge from her right eye, which is slightly puffy and bloodshot. Her eye stings and is “a little itchy,” she informs Ms. Maria.
Now think of your own examples of children who should be kept out of care but should not be automatically kept out.
I am learning objectives 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 are all supported by this task.
In each piece, please cite your sources.
