In line with the methodology, we have employed throughout this course, you should also include essential elements like geography, a timeline of principal events, important individuals, innovations, achievements, customs, beliefs, as well as failures and reasons for decline if this is evident.
Remember to include specific historical examples that will give greater depth to your history. Choose and explain one specific historical fact, person, or event that you think is crucial for understanding the culture, society or civilization you are teaching. Possible choices might include: the Paiza, Kilwa
potsherds, the account of Mansa Musa’s hajj, the Hebrew astrolabe, the voyage of Columbus, the travels of Ibn Battuta, etc. There are many other historical examples found throughout the course material for the second half of the semester.
You should describe this fact, person, artifact or event in detail. Imagine that you are attempting to communicate its significance to a group of middle school students. To do this well will require a few paragraphs. Think about when the artifact was made, where the individual came from, what did they
achieve, what happened during the event, etc
