Instructions:
You’ve been researching, reading, and analyzing various sources on Greek civilization for the last four modules in order to critically evaluate complex historical issues and develop original interpretations of those issues.
Your analysis papers will look at a particular topic in Greek or Roman history that is directly related to the time periods covered in this course and how that topic shaped that civilization. You’ll back up your argument with primary and secondary sources from these time periods, as well as secondary sources about the event. These are not opinion papers, and your thoughts on the events should not be included. They should include your analysis of the topic, which should include a variety of sources to provide appropriate context for the topic as well as the objectivity of your analysis. A works cited section will be included in your paper, with at least three primary and secondary sources.
The following is a summary of what was covered in the previous weeks (in terms of time periods):
1) “Homer’s Odyssey; Hesiod’s Theogony” (Homer’s Odyssey; Hesiod’s Theogony)
2) “Greek Warfare and Expansion” (The Persian War)
3) “Athens Classical” (Athenian Democracy)
4) “Alexander the Great’s Hellenistic World”
