US History II_01 Economic Inequality in Gilded Age
The height of economic inequality in the Gilded Age occurred at the same time as racial segregation, lynching and the disfranchisement of African Americans in the South. Usually, these histories are told separately. Is there a way we can bring them together? Why did America (North and South) lose its commitment to racial equality in the late 19th century?
In your answers, consider what was happening in the labor movements (including populism), the convict labor system, immigration and American imperialism.
