Normally poetry would involve a lot of discussion, about what works, what doesn’t, what it means, where/when it came from. Since we’re at a loss in that area, I’d ask that you pick one of the poems covered in class and talk about your interpretation.
What does it mean to you? Did my interpretation influence yours? What about the message of the poem appeals to you? What about the techniques appeal to you? A big, always-interesting question to me: what would you do differently if you wrote the poem (or a poem like it)? Are there specific lines that jump out at you?
Normally, there would be a lot of debate about what works, what doesn’t, what it means, and where/when it came from when it comes to poetry. Since we’re at a loss in that department, I’d like you to choose one of the poems we’ve discussed in class and discuss your interpretation.
What exactly does that imply to you? Is it possible that my interpretation influenced yours? What about the poem’s theme appeals to you? What aspects of the methodology pique your interest? What would you do differently if you wrote the poem (or a poem similar to it)? This is a large, always-interesting subject for me. Are there any lines that stand out to you?
