COVID-19 Nursing Reflection Assignment Many nurses are anxious about their careers’ future prospects. Every generation faces its own set of obstacles, but COVID-19 will likely live on in the minds of this generation. We had to think on what had transpired during those days as nurses, and we had to do some soul searching because of what we had to face as nurses. Some of you are working on the front lines of the epidemic, caring for patients who are sick.
Read about moral anguish on the website of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN).
Please explain a few of situations you’ve had or imagine you’d have caring for a COVID-19 patient. For example, it deeply bothers me when a person who is dying is unable to communicate with their family. As a supporter of palliative care and hospice, as well as other related concepts, I am passionately opposed to anyone dying without their family present. This has deeply concerned me, to the point where I am experiencing distress and am unable to come up with an explanation.
Separate moral discomfort from burnout and compassion fatigue. Sort the above example into the appropriate category.
The AACN’s Position Statement on Moral Distress in Times of Crisis may be found here. In response to the AACN Position Statement, please leave a comment. Are you of the same mind when it comes to moral distress? What are your thoughts on the matter?
Answer the questions as completely and succinctly as possible in your response. 1 full page of content is required.
Make careful to cite any sources you use to respond to the questions (at least one reference should be in APA format).
