To select a film, click on the links below to view the list of films. Select ANY one film of your choice and write a review. There is no sign-up sheet for this discussion. You may select any film from the MODERN PERIOD (after 1500 CE): https://sites.google.com/site/mbondlamberty/movies
You will need to find the film on your own through Netflix or elsewhere. I could not find the films on Youtube or in the FC Library. Check this out as well for films about modern Latin America:

- What is the book/film about? This query of course, leads to others. Does the book/film have a central theme? Does it argue a thesis? What was the author’s/filmmaker’s purpose in writing the book/making the film? How well was the author’s/filmmaker’s purpose accomplished? You may summarize the theme in a single sentence or in a paragraph. In no case, however, should the plot/summary exceed, in this type review, 200 words. The review should be analytical, not purely descriptive.
- Is the book/film reliable? One should ask of a non-fiction book/documentary not simply, “Is it interesting?” but also, “Is it historically reliable, accurate?” In fact, the last question should come first. The narrative can be very engaging and interesting, but if it isn’t reliable, it isn’t history.
- Where did the author/filmmaker secure the information? From primary sources? From travel? From documents? Or from what others have written about the subject (that is, from secondary authorities)? How does the author/filmmaker indicate where the material was obtained? Are the sources of information reliable? Why or why not? Is the book/film based on contemporary accounts (diaries, letters, speeches, or newspapers) of people who actually saw the event or on flimsy evidence? Are the contemporary accounts credible? If the book/film is based on secondary sources, are these reputable accounts? Does the author/filmmaker use the evidence with care and discrimination? Does the author/filmmaker read into the evidence ideas or facts that are not there?
