Discussion Paper on Privileged Accounts
Ordinary user accounts have less privileges than privileged accounts, such as Administrator or root. Anyone with privileged access to a system or network can do almost anything. IT personnel in many environments share privileged accounts and passwords. Privileged access management (PAM), also known as privileged account management, prevents privileged accounts from sharing passwords. Instead, it employs a policy-based “privilege safe.” When administrators require higher rights, they submit a request to the privilege safe, which examines the policy and, if circumstances are met, grants a password for a limited duration. Please respond to the following question(s):
What is at least one other disadvantage to exchanging privileged account passwords, aside from the possibility of them coming into the hands of an attacker? Give an explanation for your response.
Are there any drawbacks to utilizing PAM? Give an explanation for your response.
Completely answer to the discussion’s questions; provide a valid justification or citation for your selections; and respond to at least two other students’ perspectives.
A minimum of 350 words should be included in the first post. At least 150 words should be included in each reply post.
