Household Food Insecurity and Hunger Discussion
Background
Healthy People is a set of health objectives for the Nation to achieve over the decade of the new century. It can be used by many different people, States, communities, professional organizations, and others to help them develop programs to improve health. Over the past weeks, we have discussed the development of Healthy People and how it has been adopted to guide national disease control and prevention. We also discussed administrative and legislative actions in developing health initiatives, its approach, and its philosophy underpinning health initiatives.
The Healthy People 2030 Leading Health Indicators (LHIs) (Links to an external site.) are composed of 23 indicators that cover the life span. The process of selecting the Leading Health Indicators (LHIs) is extensive collaborative efforts undertaken to develop Healthy People 2030. The Secretary’s Advisory Committee on National Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Objectives for 2030 appointed several subcommittees, charging each with providing input on aspects of the initiative’s development, and provide guidance on how to define and select LHIs for Healthy People 2030.
These LHIs are core objectives that focus on upstream measures, such as risk factors and behaviors, rather than disease outcomes. They address high-priority public health issues that have a major impact on public health outcomes. Also, they are modifiable in the short term through evidence-based interventions and strategies to motivate action at the national, state, local, and community level. They address social determinants of health, health disparities, and health equity, and have new data available periodically (preferably annually).
Procedures and Grading Criteria (100 points)
Step 1: Select ONE topic from the Healthy People 2030 Leading Health Indicators (LHIs) (Links to an external site.)
Step 2: Select ONE of the Healthy People 2030 objectives from the LHIs you have chosen in Step 1.
Step 3: From the objective you selected, you can check the “Evidenced-based Resources” OR you can conduct your own search by visiting PubMed search engines (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/ (Links to an external site.)) and type in keywords based on the objective you have selected in step 2. For example, if you are interested in one of the LHIs (e.g., Adults engaging in binge drinking of alcoholic beverages during the past 30 days (Links to an external site.)), you can either:
(1) Visit the “Evidenced-based Resources” for the evidence-based resources (EBRs) to learn about proven, science-based methods to improve health and prevent disease. These EBRs are helpful to develop programs and policies that are informed by evidence on what’s effective, replicable, scalable, and sustainable.
(2) Use alternative keywords for your search (e.g, binge drinking, alcohol use). You might also need to set a combined search by using “or”, “and”, as well as limit your search with “time” or “gender” or “English publication”. If you are not familiar with the PubMed search, please visit the library videos available in Topic 0)
Step 4: Identify ONE article (from a peer-review journal) that describes health education/health promotion effort that has been conducted locally or nationally (in the United States) specifically focuses on the objective you have selected.
Step 5: Review the article carefully.
Step 6: Your midterm paper should include the followings and will be graded out of 100 points:
List the topic you have selected from the Healthy People 2030 Leading Health Indicators. (10 points)
List the objective you have selected under that specific topic. (10 points)

Southern New Hampshire University Business Communication Soft Skills Development Essay
Scenario Two
You are working on a project at a business communications company, which includes employees who work at the central office and at a satellite office in a different state. The team is working with clients from a health services company on a public relations (PR) campaign. Throughout the campaign, the team will produce text-based documents and visual media for the PR campaign, and then the clients will review, make suggestions for revisions, and add content as needed. Quick turnaround is needed for tasks to be completed by the entire team (employees and clients). For the past six weeks since the project started, the employees and clients have been communicating largely through email with attachments, sending documents and media back and forth for review. However, the clients have been giving mostly short replies to emails, in which requested details are missing from the replies, the communication has been misunderstood by the clients, and/or individual questions are not fully responded to by the clients. Subsequently, the project team is not working productively with the clients and milestone deadlines are being missed or not fully completed with the desired goal. How can the team (employees and clients) better communicate fully, share documents and media, and stay on task to meet project deadlines? What are the key messages to communicate to the entire team and what strategies should be used to do this?
