1) Persuade your listeners
To PERSUADE your listeners – This is your chance to be creative and develop your persuasive
speaking skills. You will select a topic of your choice that is of interest to you and deliver a talk on it to the rest of the class.
Using your readings in Chapter 10, your goal is to influence your peers to consider the opinion that you present and adopt it as their own.
Hospitality Management. These might include, but are not limited to: convince fellow classmates to:
purchase a product;
use ethical practices in business;
develop good communication skills;
visit a city or country;
develop a different opinion than that presented in a news article (i.e. why we should view this news topic from a different point of view); etc.
keep your presentation within the 3-minute time frame.
Create an Opening to your speech that welcomes your listeners, that identifies your purpose and that brings the listeners attention to you and your speech.
The Middle section of your speech is important, and should include the persuasive aspects of your topic
The Ending should briefly summarize what you have said, should bring closure to the presentation, and call for questions from your audience. The speech must end within 3 minutes
