I’ll upload my proposal with my teacher’s comments on it, and the sources I’ll be using also with her comments. (You did the proposal the sources for me)
1) (For this part I need ONLY the Thesis statement separately for a discussion board) Thesis writing is a challenge, undoubtedly. I struggle with it in that I don’t have foresight enough to know what I’m going to say before I’ve even said it. To help me focus a thesis, I revisit the steps of the simple question posted at the end of this paragraph solidifying answers as I move through the writing process:
We’ve been over this, but humor me for a moment, and forgive the repetition: there are three parts of the writing situation (what you’re trying to say, to whom, and why you’re trying to say it) as far as I can tell, and two of them (the what and the why) comprise the working parts of a thesis. That third piece, the who, is your audience and heavily influences what you’re trying to say. So–take some time to analyze the writing situation that you’re in–what are you trying to say, to whom, and why are you trying to say it? Even if the results are vague or messy to begin, so be it–focus them as you write, think, and research.
2) (For this part I need a rough draft for my paper, please follow her comments on the proposal and the sources)
— Post four pages of a rough draft of your paper. They don’t need to be polished, but they need to be there in full and in MLA format.
— Don’t just leave a blank post with an attachment; instead, give your peers a little information about what you think is working, what’s not, where your confidence lies, what you’re unsure of, etc. (please make sure to separate this part, just around 50 words)

The research titled “A Survey on Facebook Users and Information Privacy” written by Presthus and Vatne (2019) investigates the attitudes of people towards possible violations of data privacy as compared to the benefits of being a Facebook member. To carry out this study, the researchers used scholarly sources and previous surveys in order to back up their claims. Peer-reviews were also utilized to ensure the validity of the study. Presthus and Vatne are both Phd holders in Informatics, and their study was published by ELSEVIER, ensuring their credibility of study. This research was just recently published in 2019, and can easily be accessed by researchers on various websites such as ScienceDirect and ELSEVIER. The objectivity of the study is kept intact as conclusions were drawn only from evidence and quantitative data. This study aids my research as it discusses attitudes of data users and how they perceive risk-reward in terms of data privacy.

The article titled “Identity theft: What is it and how to avoid it” written by Jennifer van der Kleut (2021) and published on the Norton LifeLock website discusses the process of identity theft and what safety precautions people can take in order to avoid becoming victims of it. As the Norton company deals with security and anti-virus systems as their products, they bear credibility to discuss these issues as they have been in the field for 30 years. The accuracy of the article is supported through the use of surveys from the Identity Theft government website and citations from the IRS. As the article was well backed up by facts and research, it was evident that the author was being as objective as possible when dealing with the topic. As the Norton website constantly updates itself to cater to consumers, the article is updated and contains the updated current numbers for the FBI complaint centers. This information meets the needs of my study because it delves on the gravity of identity theft while also providing readers with the knowledge they need to avoid these untoward incidents from happening to them.

The article titled “Impact of Fear of Identity Theft and Perceived Risk on Online Purchase Intention” by Jordan, Maric, and Leskovar (2018) analyzed the impact of perceived risk of identity and credential theft on online shoppers. The researchers belong to the University of Maribor Faculty of Organizational Sciences, and had their study published by ResearchGate. This study was peer-reviewed and drew from past research and statistics to aid their study, which was executed in an objective manner through using factual data. As this study was published in 2018, the issues mentioned are all recent and relevant to today’s context. This source has proven to be reliable and will aid my research as this would give me insight as to how people perceive risk in online functions.

My teacher’s comment on the sources:
While it’s not yet all that important, be sure to use MLA style when the time comes to write your actual citations in a Work Cited page.
Check out this video (Links to an external site.) it’s on lateral reading, a means of evaluating and understanding sources that you encounter.
Norton’s goal is to sell services–does that affect the way you see their website? And that’s not me saying you can’t use it, hardly; rather, your awareness of their biases and intent should shape the way you use it or any other source, if that makes sense?
pleaseee make sure to follow her comments in the proposal, and the sources!!! Also make sure to open the proposal in Google Chrome so you can see her comments in each part.
