Hello Professor and class,
What are the stages of the system development life cycle?
Planning – At this stage, this is where the scope is determined and establish the cost, time, and benefits for the solution (1).
Systems Analysis and Requirements – This is where the team decides what the problem is and how to fix it. After analyzing, the new system or fixes will ensure the end user can work with the system and it meets their prospects (1).
Systems Design – This phase is where the end user will describe in detail their individual needs. This will be very specific in the software and hardware for the system (1).
Development – This is where the work is organized, and production begins. The process will need to be organized and everything done is a proper manner (1).
Integration and Testing – This is where the Quality Assurance team makes sure the system does what it is supposed to do with no flaws (1).
Implementation – This is where the product is put into productions and gets to work (1).
Operations and Maintenance – This is where regular updates and maintenance are done to enhance the system as things change over time (1).
Which stage is the most critical stage and why do you think so?
I believe the planning stage is the most critical of all the stages. This is where the entire job is organized, and check listed on how each step-in detail will go. During the planning stage, the team communicates on the best way to reach each step correctly. This sets a goal, base and foundation on the project and keeps everyone in the know on when and where the project should be at any given time.
There are new approaches to building systems, such as rapid application development, agile, DevOps, etc. Choose any one of the approaches and explain the value it contributes to the system development process.
Agile – I like Agile because it is flexible and makes everything transparent with a project. Communication is the key and when things change during a process, then the team can be flexible and change the scope a little to best meet the needs of the product and the needs of what the end user truly wants. Also, this always the stakeholders to be closely involved to ensure they are getting what they want and feel part of the process which creates great customer relationships. Like I said , communication and feedback is a great way to have a successful product.
