Good evening all,
After almost 55 years on this earth, I believe that I have very good time managment skills. After all, the military taught me that time managment could mean life or death, or just in most cases, getting reports to my superiors in a time frame that they set and normally did not come off of.
I received a 56 out of 74 on this quiz. Not bad. I can’t argue with the results, but they can be looked at as subjective by the quiz taker. For instance, I received a 20 out of 30 in the “prioritization” category. This category states that I should have a “to do” List and complete the things that have the highest value. The question can be subjective in that “who is the high value item for?” Is it for you, or do you have to finish a project that is a high value to someone else? Of course, most would answer that the high value iis what is important to you.
According to our reading this week, learning the skill of time managment allows you to prioritize and acheive more goals in life. One of my biggest goals in life was to make E7 in the navy. I took plenty of time when I was an E6 to learn what the E7 board was looking for, and I evolved my career around those things, especially when my ship was underway and many of the requirements that needed to be met were underway requirements. I didn’t move away from my other priorities, but just made this goal my main one, and using the right resources, it paid off.
In conclusion, to ensure my success in the health care field, in which I am currently employed, I need to prioritize my classes, but give them equal time to my employment. If I am successful with this, then I will become the first in my family with a Bachelor’s, and also be a successful Occupational Therapy Assistant, and it all started out as a lowly E2 in the navy making success in life much more important than just being another “drunk sailor”.

I chose this topic because I was always in doubt if I really know how to manage my time. I was in doubt because I always do my best to be able to be responsible both at work and at work. I have always been a person who frustrates me not being able to finish any work on time and therefore I get very stressed. That makes me think I am exaggerating, and I do not know if what I am doing is correct. Whether it is an obsession, or I am just responsible.
According to the website of the link, I have a score of 61 in which it means that I am managing my time well and that I always put my responsibilities first. I am also an orderly person and that helps me to be able to manage my time more. On the negative side is that I must minimize interruptions. This for me is almost impossible since I run an office and both the staff, and the patients depend a lot on me. The same thing happens in my home too. I am a mother of two children and interruptions are inevitable.
After doing the pro quest search, I found an article that caught my attention and helped me understand the importance of managing time well. One of the things that I found most informative is the importance of creating goals. “Focus on an appropriate goal. Make your time management goal to spend your time well in your medical practice, not to cram more and more into an already overcrowded schedule. Sometimes the best way to manage our time is to let go of some things” (Hills, 2012).
